Yeah I agree, was just basing this off some of my recent experiences on the phone. I guess just being NZ based does not necessarily give you a good command of the language.
I visited Samoa just before Covid with a customer to help setting up a call centre over there to supplement their NZ one, and I'm aware of a few companies in NZ with call centres in Fiji as well. Both countries have a lot of people who are pretty comfortable with NZ English and understand the people - feedback suggest a a lot of people in NZ really hate speaking to Filipino based CSRs.
