It is extremely rare that most people check out at 1100. Normally it is between 1200 to 1300. Beyond that they will charge. But to ask to wait beyond 1500 for a room is unheard of to me.

I've been not only "asked" but required to wait beyond 1500 more than once, more than twice, and more than thrice. Occasionally, the front desk will apologize and offer a beverage from the bar "while you wait." Most often (and I'd be surprised if this hasn't happened to me at least 10 times over the years), it is just a faux apology. Occasionally, there's an offer for a lesser room type that is "ready."
