I have a flight coming up soon from KUL to SYD with a 16 hour layover in Manila and have a question. I understand that flights to Australia will require secondary check of luggage and since baggage will be checked through from KUL to SYD, I will have to proceed to transit counter for the staff to do their checks.

Q: If I want to leave the airport during this time, can I do the checks first then leave the airport? Or is there another way around this?
