Someone mentioned a donut effect in cities - the center (downtown) is a lot of nothing and all the activity is in the “outer” parts of the city.
as the downtown malls close up, the big stonestown mall continues to thrive with shopping, diverse dining, semi-luxury (expensive) shops, shoplifters, and typical unruly shoppers of all ages. Some stores require an adult with the kids. My son and his boy friends (cross country) were being silly in Sephora and their girl teammates departed Sephora in order to not see the behavior.
anyway another mall outside downtown used to have Nordstrom rack, BBBY, and Peet’s - that’s where I shop for Trader Joe’s. They recently had propaganda marketing of future retailers coming - I know TCS is replacing the Nordstrom Rack. I don’t know the other retailers so it’s just a fake brand scheme for marketing or those stores exist and have signed leases.
the unknown brands for me:
chic
lovely beast
Heritage house
optique
the photo with Publico taqueria is legit - it’s a good taqueria that’s owned by Dos Pinos in Potrero. I’ve been going to Dos Pinos a lot in 2005-2014; I’ve not been in awhile. Too many great taquerias and Mexican restaurants overall in San Francisco and there’s low need for loyalty plus Potrero is 2 miles away and I’ve nearly zero needs to go there…
