JW Marriott Jakarta, Indonesia [Master Thread]

I’m a bit surprised this property doesn’t have a master thread, but leave it to me to start one! The property is very traditional - in both good (the elevators - so fun) and bad (it’s not the newest). I also must admit that I went in with very low expectations - they were vastly exceeded - hah! Here are my pros, cons, and photos:

Odd: At check-in, a tablet was going through slide show photos of scuffs on room furniture - I’m assuming this was pulling from TripAdvisor - they are being open and honest - hah!!!!

Pros:
  • Property was fully sold out online, so they could only move me to a top-floor (well, I could see floors above me, but it was the highest you could go in the elevator) King - they offered 5 pieces of laundry or a 200K F&B credit as an apology
  • I liked the styling - it reminded me of my grandma’s house (seriously this time)
  • The furniture was comfortable - seriously plush desk chair cushion
  • Shower pressure was good and strong
  • Enjoyed the raspberry cheesecake from evening service on the 29th floor lounge (lounge admittedly felt less proactive than other Jakarta properties, but selection seemed large - I had already ordered dinner)
  • Breakfast for Elites is offered in either the lounge or restaurant - I enjoyed the restaurant offering
    • Really good aloo paratha with spicy tomato chutney
    • Good and fluffy pancakes
    • Good omelet
    • Good chocolate croissant
    • Enjoyed the guava smoothie
  • Offered late checkout proactively - no issue with the 3 PM I requested
  • Elevators and slide-in keycards gave me major nostalgia
  • Pillows were plush

Neutral:
  • Only welcome gift was fruit

Cons:
  • Wasn’t a fan of the smell of the detergent used on the towels
  • Both bed covers and mattress topper were a bit lumpy and need replacement - could be plush on the lumps, which of course weren’t in the middle of the bed where a solo traveler would sleep
