I can understand your frustrations with the carry-on luggage - especially as in my experience TK allow people onto their planes with bags and bags. I’ve never seen so many people with so much hand luggage as I have on flights from Istanbul to Central Asia.
Also per TK’s website you are allowed 2 x 8kg in Business and 1 x personal item of up to 4kg. I don’t know how close to the limit you were (sounded like you only had one hand carry on case) so it may have been possible to put some of the excess weight in a plastic bag and have that as your personal carry on.
Oh this is funny, and makes it every worse! I didn’t know we were each allowed 2 X 8 Kg. So we each had a 16 kg allotment, but because we had a single 10kg bag they refused us. Really wouldn’t expect that in a premium cabin.
Is there a specific reason for the individual bag weight limit for carry-ons? I understand the overall limit and the limit for checked bags, but why do they care if I have one 10kg bag vs two 5 kg bags?
