You get your seat selection benefits (and all your other elite benefits) on basic economy tickets. You don't need the coupons. You will be on the upgrade list too.
Basic economy tickets can't be changed and have no value if cancelled, and earn 40% of the normal LP and RDM. Other then that they are identical to regular main cabin tickets.
