I haven't used it anger yet but setting up WeChat/WeChat Pay and AliPay using a UK number, UK passport and UK Chase debit card was fairly easy. Fingers crossed it will work when I transit through in a few months on my way to Vietnam. Seemed churlish not to stay for a couple of nights.
