IAD-EWR-XXX, $1100 for IAD-EWR and rebooked on direct flight to nearby airport IAD-YYY taking off at same time. Took bus from YYY-XXX and made it before EWR-XXX. Equipment swap from A320 to A319 - earlier in the day when checking-in they offered $600 immediately for travel on the next day, or you could waitlist for more. Needed to be in XXX or YYY by the evening so I couldn't take the $600 online but was going to tell them to send me to YYY if it was still needed at the gate.

My first time ever doing VDB, after volunteering plenty of times just to be told no need for what feels like ages.... What I found interesting was that there were still a few seats open after it left, and a few standbys cleared. There were also some BE pax at the gate who weren't pleased at the podium and kept asking if they were going to fly or not - maybe they were 1st in line for IDB? I would have stayed and watched everything but this all happened within 3 minutes and I was off sprinting to a far-off gate for the rebooked flight. I only arrived a minute prior to boarding and heard the announcement asking for one more volunteer shortly after. I did not negotiate and took my $1100 and ran. Anyways, I was a very happy passenger TLDR: IAD-EWR $1100 for a handful of pax.
