Given AC's track record of IT issues, long call wait times, variably helpful staff - I am impressed you were able to find out why...
According to my phone, total call time was 15 minutes. My guess is there's an overall call reduction compared to the summer.
In addition to telling me what city the agent is in, they were also able to tell me the name of the other passenger, just to double-check whether it might be someone I know. Definitely an overall positive call experience.
