Honestly I spent over $90k PER YEAR for two years during Covid and did not get it. I complained to my work travel agent and was told they had many memberships and would transfer one from a HR lady who flew 2-4x a year to me. Honestly, GS is just travel agent nepotism. Don’t take it personally if you miss the mark. And know most of those people just suck up to their work travel agents. And you think India or China is corrupt?
Well I’m a travel agent with an organization that books well into the 7 figures of air tickets on United and I can assure you that none of us are GS nor has GS status ever been offered even if asked. It may be an incentive to certain corporate departments with large spend contracts but for the rest of us, there is no GS - or any other status free lunch for that matter.
