I've finally taken the plunge and booked a December TUN-JED-BKK J rtn. It must be selling as the day I was going to flying back on was not available to book in J, and I had to choose a following day and the fare has risen by about £40-£50 as the outbound ticketed into the next highest category "Business Semi Flex" (I forget what the one lower is named that was an option when I checked yesterday/day before).
A few questions:
- My outbound and return layovers in JED are both less than 12 hours. During online booking I was given the option of a free transit e-visa. I by-passed this option as I will not be leaving the JED airport terminal in each layover. Is this e-visa only used if someone wanted to go land-side for a visit/hotel?
- I'm using AF for my positioning flight to/from LHR-TUN. On the outbound I arrive just before midnight from CDG for the late morning next day SV TUN-JED. Will need a taxi to a city hotel (ibis) for a night's sleep. How much should I budget for a 2 x taxi rides (to and from the hotel)? Are taxis easy to get at TUN and ibis (what about the all too common tourist taxi scams)?
- I'm travelling with a cabin bag only (no checked-in baggage). I make the assumption that SV e-boarding cards on my iPhone in TUN is a non-starter and I should go the check-in for a paper boarding card. Does SV have dedicated business class check-in booth?
- What is TUN security like, i.e. is there a business class fast track lane? I expect I need to give myself plenty of time to get through TUN.
- On my return the SV JED-TUN gets in at mid-morning and then I'm on the afternoon AF to CDG, so 7 hours between flights. Does TUN have air-side only flights transfers or will I need to go land-side and back through to air-side? I will have already checked-in for AF on my iPhone so I'll have the e-boarding cards, which I assume will be OK for AF in TUN.
I'm quite looking forward to adding SV to my list of SkyTeam members flown.
