But my understanding is that ours were only scrutinized because we had to go up to the check-in desk. Nobody had theirs weighed while getting on the plane, and many didn’t have the “approved” tag. If I’m wrong and they also did weigh everyone’s bag who did self-check in, then I would generally be ok with an evenly applied rule. Is that so? Also, many rollers in biz were the same size as ours. But I didn’t picked them do not sure if they were under 8kg.
2.) CC verification was a mix of bad luck and illogic. I’ve bought many tickets the day of travel, award tickets for family members the day before, etc. and it never triggered. Maybe I was lucky.
I guess I don’t understand the fraud that could have been perpetrated here. Were they worried someone stole both my credit card and my passport, booked a ticket a long time ago, and are now traveling under my identity while simultaneously having access to my credit card apps and email for those receipts? I hit a brick wall of unreason and what I perceived as a bit of a power trip.
3.) All of this, together with the call-in award booking experience and the CDG ground experience made for a really miserable “premium” product. Maybe I’m lucky or something, but definitely ranks dead last. Some of the negativity came in the middle when I didn’t know if my trip was totally derailed. In retrospect, knowing it was an hour or 1.5 hour of hassle with no ultimate impact, it’s less had than it felt at the time.
I can understand your frustrations with the carry-on luggage - especially as in my experience TK allow people onto their planes with bags and bags. I’ve never seen so many people with so much hand luggage as I have on flights from Istanbul to Central Asia.
Also per TK’s website you are allowed 2 x 8kg in Business and 1 x personal item of up to 4kg. I don’t know how close to the limit you were (sounded like you only had one hand carry on case) so it may have been possible to put some of the excess weight in a plastic bag and have that as your personal carry on.
I can also understand your frustration regarding the card. I’ve travelled a lot and never been asked so I too would be surprised if I was asked.
It doesn’t sound like a very nice experience at all and I wish in circumstances like this airlines would be a bit more helpful in trying to assist their customers rather than just saying there’s nothing they can do.
