Sharp practice IMO, and increasingly common in the UK. Also to note that in Dublin the pay lounge had "at capacity" signs up but was barely being used if you actually went up and they let me in.
The Clubrooms is part of the No1 Lounge chain, but is meant to be a more premium experience with table service for all food and drinks (and better quality drinks and full meals). I decided to pay the supplement in Birmingham when I was last there and I found it worth the additional cost. It's understandable why it isn't included as part of the standard PP entry.
