You need to clear immigration at FRA (you are entering Schengen). Usually this is not time consuming. Customs will take place at final destination (LUX) if you have checked luggage.
Although this transfer is tight it is not impossible. Just follow the signs; no need to ask for assistance (they will not be able to help you except pointing in the right direction). If you miss the flight to LUX you will get rebooked to the next flight or you take the train (FRA-LUX is really short distance); not the end of the world! (assuming you are traveling on 1 single ticket).
Yes, 2 one way tix to LUX. These flights are not paired, so checking luggage would be unmanageable. Metz, France is our final destination and getting there by train is convoluted and next flight is 10 hours later, unless I’m missing something. The rest of our circuit will be via rail through Strasbourg & Heidelberg before we return to Frankfurt for our RT flight. We can manage with carry-on only. I can always buy stuff if I need it. That short leg to Luxembourg, the short hour, and navigating an airport I’ve never been in before is the only part of this venture making me panicky. Thanks for reassuring me. Wish us luck 🍀
