The only carrier that I am aware of where branding specifically matters for MP accrual is on AC-issued tickets, where the branding and fare code combined determines whether you earn 25%, 50%, etc. it matters because AC is a bit unique, I think, where fare classes can be booked via various fare brands.
SQ, for example, has value, flexi, etc., but I believe the fare codes are tied to a specific brand. I’m flying an N fare on a value, non-earning fare, but I’m pretty sure N is always a part of value.
if course, beware if there are any codeshare flights - those will earn based on fare class of the operating carrier, which may be different than the class of the marketing carrier.
Yes, on SQ, fare classes are specific to the fare brands, however, N fares on SQ now earn 10%. Since late spring, I think. Can confirm as wife earned on an SQ flight in July…a whopping 198 miles and 33 PQP on BLR-SIN, but still something.
