Been flying a lot in Sep/Oct, mostly a mix of intl polaris and some J transcon. I may be unique in this perspective, but it feels like the FAs are really trying. Like really really trying.
My service has been great... and consistent. They remember/address my name, consistent beverage refills throughout flight, proactive with introducing themselves (+ biz cards), captain came 2x and introduced himself to me mid-flight, pulled aside a bottle of Groth cab for me to ensure they didn't run out (this was a grandma FA - fantastic - told me "she'd keep the bar open all night for me".. don't judge), proactive compensation for the smallest mishaps, when I flew with my dad/brother and they found out - really wined and dined them, Shun making fantastic cocktails in the SFO polaris lounge, sending me home with a goodie bag of wings/coloring books for my kids.... Look it's not SG or ANA where they are bowing to me, but it's the best I've prob seen in 10+ years on United. Anybody else feeling the same?
BTW, flew ANA First a few weeks ago and didn't get a glass of 2004 Dom (only normal Dom I guess) bc I didn't ask fast enough and they only cater one bottle. On United at least they are not running out of what I want to drink (and the Heidsieck Monopole ain't bad - thankful they got rid of the $6 sparking they used to serve).
Seriously though, credit to the FAs... real improvement.
