And now the final piece of my review is about the room.
Nothing than praise for our French speaking housekeeper serving floor 12
: she started quite early at around 7.30 mornings and every time we went out for breakfast, our room was already done and refreshed.
The room was in good shape, everything worked and the shower pressure was strong and constant.
I had booked orginally the KING SUITE SOFABED, this was upgraded to DOUBLE BED SUITE SOFABED
(DOUBLE BED in American standards translates to European Lits Jumeaux 2x Prince beds)
I had stayed before in a room similair to Nicolas his review
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/35230271-post373.html
Those KING SUITE CITY VIEW are also quite nice but a bit to cramped if triple occupancy
To give you an idea, the hotel is shaped like an H

Nicolas his room was #1407 KING SUITE CITY VIEW : yellow
Our room was #1257 DOUBLE BED SUITE SOFABED : purple
Floor plan of level 12 : as you can see the shape of the building is an H
Left side : faces north
Upperside : faces east
View on our room : 12th floor where both wings intersect
And let's have a look inside
Entry into the room
Left the sofabed
Looking back to entrance door, right the minibar and refreshment setup with kettle and Nespresso capsule coffeemachine
Left of the entrance door is a small annex with an extra empty fridge to store your own stuff in ....
. interesting fact, when switching the lights on here, an exhaust start humming ....
could be in the past this was the location of an extra second toilet ?
A huge Philips TV and lovely mantle piece ......
word of warning the airconditioning works extremely well ....
especially for our American friends who like to wake up with icicles hanging down their noses and prefer the livingroom to feel like a freezer !
Right of the entrance is a big closet
With a yoga mat and umbrella
Looking from living room to bed room
Bedroom also has its own airconditioning : in junction with the one in the living room, it felt like an iglo
Double bed : Twin Lits Jumeaux 2x Princes
Extra closet in the bedroom with the safe, iron & board, shoehorn, extra pillow and blanket
I needed the blanket.... i felt as cold as Lady MacBeth at her honeymoon
View from our room
Showerstall with overhead and handheld
Tiling looks very similair to the Kimpton Fitzroy London
Wallmounted bulk tamperproof containers.....
how in G-d's name can one pry it off the wall and take it home and incur a $95 charge is beyond me ........
Wash and sink area
Toilet has no bidet house or Japanese washlet
The bodylotion & liquid soap was indeed freestanding ....
ninjalad no bars of soap here
Very nice slippers,
Atacama40
they cost you too if you pilfer them ..... oddly i did not see any bathrobes in our room
Stocked minibar sensor operated
And as in Las Vegas , snacks are also automatic billed if you trigger the sensor
And you can see we are in America where any liability should be exonorated
And there are terms & conditions to keep the legal department from picking their noses out of boredom
But look closely ....
A whole lists of do and don'ts
But did you spot it:
Rackrate of
Max price for a room is $1500
Max price for a suite is $20000
Crikey ! And without taxes even being slapped on ....
Conclusion
A very welcomed spacious room,
i had orginally thought my son had to sleep on the sofabed but thanks to the upgrade,
he got to sleep in his own bed untill his father joined us where he was the relegated back the sofa bed.
I would recommend this room for families as there really is enough space to strech out.
If you compare the fire emergency lay out plan, this room has limited views but is much larger than the KING SUITE CITY
And even S/O whom is of the deep freeze, made sure i should mention that the room's aircon chills one to the bone similair to a Japanese horror movie!
So an excellent choice for those warm sultry NY summer.
