So if they were resourceful and could get permission to do so, UA could run flights between TLV and ATH to meet their extra ATH flights. Those stub flights would be done without having crews or aircraft remain in Usrael overnight...the same crew flying into TLV from ATH would turn and fly out back to ATH.
I believe the issue is that insurance won't cover aircraft in a war zone.
