I am bringing a Canon DSLR camera on my flight from India to the US through Abu Dhabi. I am planning to remove the Lithium Ion battery from the camera and pack the camera in my checked baggage, while carrying the Li-ion battery in my cabin luggage to avoid exceeding my cabin luggage weight.

Is it possible or does the battery need to be with the camera?
