German trains are synonymous with "not punctual" (statistics prove this; 1 of 3 long-distance trains are late) and FRA T1 is arguably one of the worst hubs in Europe (MUC is better) between luggage handling, long queues, confusing signage, and generally sour, non-caring employees. But do as you wish.
We are going to do Cologne through Munich to get to Milan.
The Frankfurt bit is for another day when we are going to Dortmund from Turin. There are no other options unfortunately so we have to take 6am flight to Frankfurt arriving at 7:30 and then walk to train station for a ride to Dortmund. We have to be there in time for the match at 3:30. So unless I come into money and can rent a private plane this is our only choice at the moment
