Seat Change for 'Operational Reasons'

I know I'm in no way the first person this has happened to, but I didn't want to reopen dead threads.

Flight next month; my seat on the return leg has been changed from 2F to... 9C. I took the 'We have done our best to ensure that the new seats you have been allocated are of the same type as your original seats or a suitable alternative where this has not been possible' with a raised eyebrow.

What's more annoying is all day the system is not giving me access to the booking (reporting an error) so I can't even re-allocate or check for myself. Didn't know if this was a current issue or suggested a wider problem?

What sort of thing do you reckon would cause such a shift, and is it best I just keep an eye out and move if I can? It's not the end of the world, but it's a longish European flight, and I'd really rather just squish myself next to the window for 3-4 hours.
