The Alila is an interesting place - more expensive than the Park Hyatt with obviously cheaper hardware, but very fervent and friendly service. Here are my pros, cons, and photos:

Pros:
  • Upgraded to the highest room type (I don’t think this property has suites) - Premium Room, which seems to be one of the corner layouts (seems to be different based on what corner you are on)
  • Bed was comfortable - plush-ish mattress topper, plush pillows, decently okay thickness covers for Jakarta heat
  • Shower pressure was decent
  • Delivered a nice hand towel (not sure as I didn’t unwrap it) and Jakarta keychain
  • Service was quite friendly
  • Forgot to discuss late checkout, but front desk called me and asked - no issue with the 3 PM I requested
  • Globalist happy hour at Vong is a lot - I had already eaten so had to 86 my dessert order - they also kept bringing me drinks that I didn’t order - not sure about the confusion - had to go up to my room as I got hot and overwhelmed and over-full
  • Breakfast at Vong is very good - they delivered my 86ed pate de choux from the night before (I’m assuming) with my name written in chocolate
    • Large a la carte menu, no buffet
    • Tasty eggs Royale and French toast with pork bacon and caramel sauce
    • Very good lattes

Cons:
  • No shower door
  • Room feels a bit “plasticky” - it reminded me of a US Centric in terms of finishing
  • Indoor noise isolation with the hallway could be improved
  • WiFi would not work on my laptop - ended up just using my phone
