100% correct. There will be zero incentives to earn points if the sweet spots disappear for international biz class and hotels (I often redeem for sweet ROI at Hyatt). Though on rare occasions I have gotten .02+ ROI on UA (obviously not earned with Amex)

It's not worth paying the $695 AF just for the privilege to redeem at Schwab. You can earn more (2 point/$1) with Citi and Cap1 cards and redeem at .01. Or just chuck the points entirely and get 2% cash back from Fidelity. The only reason to keep Amex Gold personal card beyond the SUB is for the grocery and dining bonus, balanced against the AF.
