Hi everyone. I am going to Japan in Feb and a friend booked the flights for us together and he chose the lowest class, economy special saver.

Is it possible for me to upgrade just my seat to a business class seat for the initial leg of NY to HND? There are plenty open. I know there is a bidding option but I just want to know if I can pay the difference or whatever and upgrade. I have tried thru the manage booking function and haven't found a way to upgrade, just change the seat itself which locks me into the economy section. Thank you in advance!
