If the bag is tagged through at the departure airport (you haven’t mentioned where that is) then it will reach the flight in Dubai. But if for some reason it can’t be tagged through then your friend will need to collect and recheck.

The issue is not the reliability of the baggage transfer in Dubai it’s whether it can be tagged through in the first place.

From experience it will entirely depend on the effort the staff at the departure airport want to give (as I mentioned on the other thread).

Your friend really should be prepared to have to collect the bag and if it’s not required it’s a bonus.
