Here now again for my second stay after Marriott merger. Under SPG got a suite every single stay. Under Marriott given what they call an upgrade executive room on a high floor - I'm on 15th floor out of 22... room is ok but nothing special. They said so many elites so hard to get good upgrades. I don't think I've gotten a suite in years under Marriott.
I was sent 4 welcome emails asking me my time of arrival and preferences. I took a red eye and 30 flight and was exhausted. Room was not ready for me at 130pm and told me I'd have to wait another 1 1/2 hours. I was not happy. After speaking w duty manager, they magically found a room. Their service recovery was saying that they'd do training on why I got so many messages and that they'd do better to get rooms done on time.
And then literally one hour later got another email asking me when I was arriving from the very same person I complained to about getting so many emails who said they'd do more training
It's annoying that they send so many welcome notes and don't have a room ready for me at 130. They emailed me and said they'd prioritize a room clean up for me which they obviously did not. What's the point of emailing me In advance to ask?
They gave me a bottle of wine and desserts. I guess this is nice but I don't drink alcohol and don't eat desserts. That should be in my preferences but I guess lost since Marriott merger. Even though I did tell 3 club lounge attendants I don't drink alcohol today and then got bottle of wine in room after.
Location remains excellent. Lounge is nice but no longer as big a spread as before - oysters are gone. It's nice for non-Asia, just ok for Asia lounges.
Unless cheap, I wouldn't stay here again. But it's not the property that's the issue - it's Marriott and everyone an elite and not going out of their way for guests. Basically, it's become a pay for what you want program to earn points. I get it. But there's no point to be loyal.
My client paid for 3 nights. I have 2 more I paid for via points as in still trying to use up points from SPG days. I might stay or switch to Hyatt but the Hyatts here are not great choices. I am on a very cheap points rate so might suck it up.
This to me is the epitome of Marriott experience - on paper they go the extra mile by welcoming peoplrz giving wine etx but they don't actually figure out what I really want ... A room on time after a red eye 20 hour trip and fruit, not alcohol and desserts
Point earning and free nights I couldn't care about but over the top service I want. I no longer for the Marriott profile
Oh yes when I saw the senior mgr I complained to to (twice) she just looked at me and looked awaym didn't ask how stay was
