Planning 6 nights in NYC late Nov with wife and two kids. Was thinking of trying the Barclay but legionella situation doesn’t paint a convincing picture of acceptable quality. Have had decent stays in IC TS before but these have been few years ago.

As Platinum Ambassador, the basic rooms available for our dates are Double Classic and Double Premium Midtown view.
Q: can the Prem Midtown view be anything in terms of floors? The view room details unhelpfully state both floors 8-18 and 19-34.
Q2: which room (if any) can I expect as Plat Ambassador upgrade for either of these rooms?
Q3: App says quoted rates will be added with state tax, city tax, occupancy fee and amenity fee 🥵 I suppose there’s no expectation that some of it would be waived, this is just local way of hiding actual costs?
Q4: this might be more culture than IC
TS related, but the last time we were here few years ago, we had a rate including breakfast. It was buffet, no complaints. At the end of the first breakfast they brought me the bill. I said breakfast is included in the room, waiter said the cost (100+ USD) will be deducted but you need to add service fee/gratuity which is not included. This happened every morning. Is this the normal way or was I being fleeced? This is not a huge thing and maybe it’s me being European but I find it odd to have supposedly breakfast included and yet need
to pay in addition 20-30 USD each day for a chap to pour me a cup of coffee.
