Thanks for the link. As you might have figured out from my post, I'm quite detailed and already read their Conditions of Carriage. The list really isn't that long and I did check it. I did have my origin airport in my initial post - AUS. Also, I have flown out of AUS on Int'l trips before - ones that were actually international without a US connecting flight and it wasn't 90 minutes then either. I'm certainly pursuing it as I mentioned in my post above.

the answer to your question is that it is 60 minutes for international even if the first leg is domestic the final destination of your itinerary is what matters unless you were at an airport with an earlier time a list of which you can find on the American site,
Thank you for that information. You seemed to have misinterpreted my directness in clarifying my question as "taking" a tone. I thanked both of the responders, but added clarification for others that might be responding. I read too many of these posts where you ask a very specific question, and people answer with comments like "You just need to..." or "You should just..." Comments such as "
If you routinely push it to the last second, your baggage will eventually get left behind." Who said I routinely - or at any time - push it to the last minute? Was it being "kind" to add that last statement? I stated in my initial post that I am not looking for advice - I'm looking for an answer to a very specific question - and just reiterated that. I'm not sure how that is "taking a tone." At any rate, I did go to their website and read their Conditions of Carriage and was unable to find the answer which is why I am seeking it out elsewhere. No offense intended, but I have had a lot of people on other forums provide conflicting information, but nobody has been able to provide me with the source of that information and a link which is what I am seeking. Just for the record, I was nothing but kind to the people at the airport - even when I was in the middle of being screwed over by AA on a made up rule. Even when United told me my new flight was indefinitely delayed and might not fly at all. Even when I then spent another $2k on tickets with Delta only to be told that flight was delayed 2 hours and I would miss my connecting flight. You shouldn't make such judgments about people. We can ALL be kind to others.
