But who knows if things will change by the time you are ready to book. If you can find that even one way, you can use AS miles for one direction, since then you will not be using multiple partners. Also AS allows stopovers on awards, so if you have any interest in stopping in Tokyo for a few days (or as long as you want) you could do that at no additional cost.
