UK Amex Plat Concierge vs others

Hi FT
I've got an Amex (UK) Platinum card and have used the Concierge service a bit but it can be hit & miss sometimes.

They’re lovely folk, good at booking hotels and also helping generally with travel related activities. I’ve never used them for booking tickets for events, I tend to use them to book hotels as you cannot refine/filter on the Amex Travel website sufficiently (please add a ‘king size bed’ tickbox!).

We used them for a quote for a Lapland trip and ended up going elsewhere as the agent didn’t add in the bits we were after, despite a couple of follow-up emails back and forth explicitly asking them for specific criteria. The itinerary just didn’t end up matching our requirements ultimately, but no biggy, so booked elsewhere.

I’ve also asked for help with finding an artist for a painting we’d liked with no luck, again fair enough, but I also tried to find companies that accept Amex for a variety of categories and was told this was something they couldn't do. I know the data’s there for them to get at, I’ve since used Amex Maps and some Google Maps matching to find the suppliers myself.

Regarding restaurants: I was reading the thread about Concierge clout (I'm not allowed to link yet due to low post count), I personally don’t think that’s a thing I’m after… we live in the North West & Manchester/Liverpool have a lot of decent restaurants in so if one’s full then there’s plenty others to go to. However, having a service that’d be aware of the North & isn't Southern-centric would be brill, someone able to suggest new places, pop-ups, etc. For events, it'd be nice to have first-ish dibs but this isn't something I've tried with Amex yet.

That said... I appreciate that my expectations could be off: maybe I’m expecting something of Amex Concierge that they simply isn't really them… I put a decent wedge through it (so far just under £200k this calendar year), but then it’s still a Platinum and with the recent post-COVID sales push, Platinum seems that it’s pretty much the new baseline of Amex cards, so I expect Concierge is simply just maxed out.

I’m wondering how others have found their experiences with other Concierge type services, like Ten and Quintessentially, specifically in the UK. I really value my time, I’d really like to be able to subscribe to a service that remembers key dates, suggests things to do/gifts/presents, helps with travel perhaps, importantly doesn’t have to be all over the phone - email or text would really help. Or maybe what I’m after is just a mix of services, I don’t know. I don't feel I'm at employing a personal assistant levels, but maybe this would be a better solution for me if there's a service to subscribe to (rather than employing someone).

Thanks FT & apologies to mia if this is in the wrong category
