one more data point; we just completed a three night stay at Sheraton towers, and were favorably impressed.

no upgrade, of course, they're pretty consistent about that regardless of status, but all the other things you'd expect as a plat--er, titanium. top floor room, late checkout, early check in (we arrived at the hotel at 8am) and excellent club lounge and breakfast offerings. mr kk was quite impressed with the free and generous pours of spirits in the lounge, along with the numerous offerings at evening cocktail hour--definitely enough to make a meal out of, although being in singapore that seems a bit of a waste. breakfast in the restaurant was quite good, although I admit I miss the quiet atmosphere of the club lounges of old. breakfast was on the busy side, but not insane, and downright quiet on the weekends.

one data point, and something I've not seen before--you know what 'chair hogs' are at resorts? someone puts down a towel to 'save' a desirable lounge chair and then leaves for an hour or more to go have breakfast or whatever...? apparently that's happening for cocktail hour, now, or at least it did at this hotel.

one particularly entitled guest in the lounge decided she and her husband deserved a window seat at cocktail hour every night, and left either a bag or a jacket draped over a chair to 'save' a seat for them before cocktail hour started at 5.30p. on one evening, she and her husband had a table, one seat away from the window, and still left a bag in a seat to 'reserve' the window table, all while enjoying a full meal at the slightly larger table a bit further from the window....while the lounge filled up. I mentioned to the lovely staff that there was 'an abandoned bag' at a table, and that in my country we get concerned about things like that. lounge agent said 'no, she's saving a table'...it was another half an hour or so (while this couple was enjoying their leisurely meal) before the male lounge attendant picked the bag up and returned it to the offending humans and someone else was able to sit at the window table. hope this isn't allowed to become a thing.

all in all, I'd stay again. staff was gracious and thoughtful, and it's an easy walk to the newton MRT station.
