I am considering booking the 12:25 and hoping it works out (no checked bag). Does anyone know how helpufl AF is if I miss that flight? Most airlines here in the U.S. will just put you on the next available flight. However, I had an experience with TAP where they made me buy a new same-day ticket for $500 due to a 10 minute miss.

Or is this really unadvisable and I should just book the 3:05? Thanks
Hi All reporting back:

- the walk from our MIA flight to 2F In CDG took about 15 minutes and there was no security to pass through. Perhaps we lucked out, but customs only took 2 mins.

- we arrived at the gate of the earlier MRS flight (12:25) before they started boarding, and the agents said there were extra seats. Yay! Unlike in the US the gate agents said they had no authority to put us on it or let us fly standby, and we’d have to go over t and talk to Air France customer service.

- the AF customer service basically couldn’t help us. They said because it was a mileage ticket they didn’t know what to do. They called several people and just sort of put up their hands.

- I certainly wasn’t rude, but I sort of pleaded with them. Is there anything we can do? That flight right there has 2 seats, is going to the same destination, we aren’t checking bags, anything? No. They said we can’t even book cash on that flight until we call flying blue and pay 50 Euros each to cancel our award ticket.

- not the end of the world, but the next flight is at 4:25pm so this inflexibility added a 4 hour layover for us.

- since we arrived same day from MIA-CDG both on business class, I didn’t think twice about using the lounge. Unfortunately, that was a no-go too. Because our CDG-MRS hop is in economy they wouldn’t let us in the AF lounge even though we just flew 9 hours long haul in J :/

Overall, it still wouldn’t have been smart to book the 12:25 but it would have worked this time.

I errantly assumed there would be some way to standby/get on that flight if we made it.

since AF doesn’t seem to scan for duplicate tickets too much I would likely just book 2 tickets next time. 4 hours actually is a decent chunk of our time in Provence!
