If we want a car, Saturday seems the only alternative. Given the unavailability of cars during weekdays, those days may have also become rather crowded.

Ten years ago we thought October was low season, but in more recent years it appears to be later part of high season. Some have said All Saints Day on 1 November has extended that in the post-Covid era. Perhaps the Synod in Rome is affecting things. We have been buying tickets for some popular things in Rome because they were selling out well in advance.
