Thanks for sharing! One of my colleagues was on your exact flights from IAD-(LAS)-HNL-GUM and I was looking for alternatives in the event UA did not hold the HNL-GUM flight that day. It's neat to see how it played out by an actual passenger while I was on the phone trying to figure out what to do. I recall advising my colleague as the flight made the detour to LAS that if you got off the ground in LAS quickly that it was possible UA would hold the HNL-GUM flight, and when I saw that UA was in fact going to do that we both breathed a sigh of relief! It's very rare that UA does this because I had another colleague on the same routing back in may of this year where the IAD-HNL flight was going to arrive an hour late into HNL, and UA did not hold HNL-GUM for that person.
