The answer is that the family members are selling the car, not the prayers or sanctification.

if mentioned at all, that is not part of the monetary consideration, but just an extra spiritual "blessing", akin to praying for the purchaser.

I do not deny that some may pay extra for items formerly possessed by a saint (a subcategory of non-significant "relics"), but they should not expect any additional spiritual benefit other than, perhaps, inspiration to pray for that saint's intercession.
