Thank you for your response. That's what I was afraid of. Is there a trick to getting information on re-routing before buying a ticket? The reservation process does NOT show the fare class/basis (which is brain-dead, if you ask me). The text regarding change rules is vague at best. (At least on the US version of their website.) And customer support has been of no help. If this is normal for EU-based carriers, you're right, I'm better off transacting with UA. I find it very frustrating that some airlines couldn't be bothered to provide basic (but critical) information needed to make a reservation. I think we in the US have been spoiled by how simple airlines have made things for us.
