Babies are pretty rare too in my experience. Encountered two pet situations on back to back, one on SQ TATL (cat), and another on UA TATL (dog).

"It's okay for babies to be PE / Y" - the amount of entitlement in this thread is a sight to behold. It's okay for commoners and steerage to deal with crying babies, but us privileged people can't be bothered with them.
Commercial airlines are public transportation. Invest in a nice set of noise cancelling headphone.
