As a parent and grandparent who has travelled with very young kids, I can assure you that I never had the foresight you allude to.

I found that preparation was key by having toys and moreso nowadays, a mobile device WITH EARPHONES to keep them entertained.Sadly, some parents are quite happy to allow their kids to fly or sit in lounges with volumes full blast while watching videos or playing games - a far more annoying aspect for me than kids crying as one can be eradicated while the other can me mitigated.by planning.

Travelling on public transport - irrespective of where you sit - will likely introduce some annoying fellow passengers and unfortunately that is the nature of the beast.
