For me, 75K is worth it for upgrades on AS and AA and OWE status. Honestly, award availability sucks through pretty much all programs right now. And if I want Avios, or KF, Aeroplan, or Flying Blue, or pretty much whatever else, I can transfer from Amex/Chase/Cap1.
Was able to redeem AS recently for JL J SFO-BKK. JX is, relatively speaking, a decent option even at their standard rates. CX availability is so lacking that there's no way I'd switch programs just for theoretically earlier access to what little space they release. I mean seriously, what other program is currently so much better???
