That is
if you can get partner awards. Right now
there's pretty much 0 SQ availability, even for intra-Asia routes like BKK-SIN/KUL that SQ doesn't hide from partners. There's very little CX (per the thread topic).
AA domestic's dried up. You're going to pay extra to book MH or AY. JX is (as mentioned) expensive.
I guess we're left with whatever scraps of AA, BA, QR, JL and DE are left? I certainly have no regrets about draining my AS account and kissing my status goodbye.

My travel is 100% self funded and I never hit any status level higher than MVPG/Delta Gold/UA Premier Gold/AA Platinum/WN A-List (all statuses I've had at one point or another) so going completely free agent and churning credit cards for travel (plus some spend, but 50% or less than in previous years) has been an easy call to make. Asiamiles and Avios have MANY bank transfer partners. Devaluations hurt still but if I'm not invested in a program beyond needing a transfer partner it's easier.
Someone with 100,000 butt in seat miles every year probably has different considerations than I do and more need for actual airline status, unless you can legitimately generate credit card spend through business or whatever and can basically buy status via cc spend + shopping malls or whatever (AA's program might be nice for that).
