LAX traffic is a different issue. Depending on which terminal you're departing (1 being fastest, 7 being slowest), I would always leave a minimum of 30-60 minutes to return a rental car and get to my departure terminal.
Ditto this! La Mirada/Buena Park is a good 20 miles away, not really close to LAX/Torrance. Manhattan Beach is a more central location between LAX and Torrance and you can get everywhere by streets only if needed (vs trying to jump on the freeway during rush hour).
Also, to get clarification, are you visiting Torrance or Manhattan Beach? Though both are in the South Bay, there are Marriott locations in Torrance or even Redondo Beach if you need to be closer to this area.
