Maybe it is a fully flexible ticket.
ID check is somewhat random. Sometimes, the whole train got checked. Some other times, only a few passengers get checked. I suspect it is based on the fare class purchased. Long distance high-speed train in spain must have passenger's name on it. Higher fare classes allow free passenger name change.
