I think we can assume that at least 4 hours of this was down to BA, so claim for EC261 delay compensation, and look at the main EC261 thread - which is usually towards the top of the forum listing. Generally it's best to sort out your own hotels / catering when this happens, BA is happy to pick up the tab. It certainly beats waiting in a queue for arrangements. This thread is the one to bookmark should you decide to fly BA again. Note that had this happened to JAL then they would not have to pay EC261 in that direction, they are out of scope as a non European airline. You should also ask for a customer service remedy for things like the lack of food onboard.
