I'm the same way. Always have been. It's just hard to sustain with a family of 4. Everything multiplies and add up quickly. When the kids were little, the value was obvious as the additional space and comfort made things easier for everyone. Now that they are teenagers (need two hotel rooms so I'm looking for savings elsewhere), the Europe jaunts are very doable in Y. The TPAC ones are longer, hence my heartburn.

Fundamentally, part of me likes to think of the miles and points as monopoly money. The fun is in the gaming part of it, not accounting. The other part - well, the way I grew up, I have always been taught to be frugal, and sometimes I don't know when to stop.
