Really? I've never been able to cancel an Aeroplan booking without signing in, and while I've never tried to cancel one on the phone without being authenticated, I would hope they'd have that protection there too.
On the cash side, I think I've been asked for the credit card information that was used to book it. Over the phone... that's a different matter.
