Actually, it was LHR-SYD. Made it with some 45 minutes of fuel left IIRC.

As for LON-PER vs. LON-SYD, it is not that much further if one goes via the Great Circle and not look at flat maps.
LHR-PER is 8,974 miles, LHR-SYD is 10,549 miles (1,925 miles extra), so it's under 3 hrs assuming cruise speed of 550 mph.
