We’ll maybe it would help if when you boarded, you went past your cabin and into the economy cabin for a quick seat while your group is still boarding (and your family to see it too)… Then go back to your cabin to take your seats and smile…. You made the right call.. And if your family can do the same, they would probably say the same to you and thank you for the splurge into prem economy.
Enjoy your flight and don’t spend too much time on the what if’s…You can second guess yourself to death with a 1000 paper cuts.

Edit to add: So any other way to look at is 15 k points per person gave everyone a more enjoyable 10 hour flight.
