I stayed here for 5 days last week. Used a SUA to get the Andaz Suite but it was a slow week in NY and I saw that they had the Andaz available at check in, so it was probably a waste to use it. The hotel is nice and modern. The location across from the NY central library was nice, I don't know NY that well and I'm a total tourist, so I mostly walked even more than taking a bus or subway since I wanted to see everything. It seemed like everything was close by that I wanted to see. The only other Andaz I've been to is the SD Andaz and I guess its the same vibe, modern and new. I would not call it luxurious, people and staff were nice. They have unlimited bottled water and sparking water at the front desk for you to take up to your room, which I really appreciate. Nobody to help you bags, which I prefer, I guess there was a guy but he didn't offer and I don't need help. The vibe I got was that of a nice Holiday Inn Express, sure I got a suite and it was a big room but it just wasn't memorable, I know, being a bit harsh but I don't think I would stay there again for the points/price paid. I guess lately, I've been staying at InterContinental's with a nice lounge and it just feels more luxury. I did room service breakfast and as a Globalist, it was all waived, even though there were charges every day, it was zeroed out at check out. Breakfast wasn't bad but it wasn't good. For example, I stayed at Hotel Fig in LA and before they changed to that limited menu, the breakfast was awesome, like you are ordering at a real restaurant that you would pay money for. The food quality was not the level of a restaurant I would go and pay to eat but for a free breakfast, it was awesome.
