I reserved for a compact class gas car but was given EV Bolt (the only car available). The counter said any reservations would have a chance getting an EV (and I did check the vehicle details of various classes again on Hertz website, and it really says "includes electric vehicles". But considering short term rentals or in areas where charges are difficult to find, it's really a headache to be getting an EV.
I had good luck specifying non-ev at autoslash and was able to get exactly what I wanted.
